HIGHLIGHT

Beethoven and the piano are inseparable. Through his piano concertos, we can trace his life and career: from the youthful vitality of his first concerto to the elegance and solemnity of his fifth, each of which is a masterpiece and has been adored by countless audiences over the past two centuries. From May 30 to June 2, Gerhard Oppitz performs the composer’s complete piano concertos. Actually, Beethoven’s second concerto is actually Beethoven’s first. Since it was published later, the chronology thus reversed. The second bears the shadow of Haydn and other classical roots. By the time Beethoven wrote his third concerto, his hearing began to decline. Written in C minor, it is a tribute to Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.24 in the same key.
