HIGHLIGHT
Both Chopin’s and Tchaikovsky’s music are emblematic of Romanticism. Yet because of differences in national background and spirit of their times, these musical portraits differ significantly. Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1 carries an irrepressibly joyful spirit injected with youthful exuberance. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4 is similar to Beethoven’s No.5 in its dramatic seriousness in tackling the eternal theme of fate.
