A former piano prodigy who successfully transitioned to become a veritable maestro, his is a successful case of a world-class performer-turned-conductor. Keen to help the younger generation, Eschenbach brings onto the stage child prodigy Johnson Li, whose growing maturity has astonished many. Li’s interpretation of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.1 encompasses whimsy, energy, grace and beauty, providing contrast to the religious solemnity of Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.5.
