Having been described as a “pure, great lyric soprano. Her voice is flexible, uniformly magnetic, soft and powerful, with delicate handling of soft voice in the upper range” by Vienna Cultural Media , Yuanming Song obtained Graduate Artist Diploma and Double Master’s Degree in “Opera and Light Opera” and “Art Songs and Cantata” at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under the tutelage of Professor Franz Lukasovsky. Meanwhile, she graduated from The Prayner Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna, majoring in flute. Yuanming Song as professor of vocalist teaches at the Voice and Opera Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing.

She has won several awards including the first prize at the 48th Concours International de Chant de La Ville de Toulouse; “Best Soprano” at the 13th Tagliavini International Vocal Competition in Austria; the first prize and the award of “Best Singer” at the 44th Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition in Czech Republic.

She has performed at Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, Goldener Saal, Grazer Opera House, Karlovy Vary Opera House, Carnegie Hall, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Buenos Aires Teatro, Santiago Teatro in Chile, Beijing National Centre for the Performing Arts, Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall and Salzburger Festspiele, and has worked with Wiener Philharmoniker, Philadelphia Orchestra as well as renowned conductors including Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Yuanming Song has starred in operas including Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus,  Turandot, La Bohème, L’taliana in Algeri, Guglielmo Tell, La Traviata, Don Pasquale, Die Lustige Witwe, L’elisir d’amore, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Il Trovatore, Rickshaw Boy, and The Sunrest. In 2024 Yuanming Song has made her debut on Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer on the stage performance produced by China National Centre for the Performing Arts, as the title role Senta. Her performance was highly acclaimed as ‘..with a voice with softness while solidly stable, making Senta the shining star of the night’, quoted of Music Weekly. Also in 2024 Yuanming Song has features a recital on lieder at Arnold Schonberg Center in Vienna.

Yuanming Song has widely an closely worked with the leading orchestras across China, among which she has been appointed the Artist-in-Residence of Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra in 2022/2023, and Qingdao Symphony Orchestra in 2023. In the season of 2024/2025 she has been appointed the Artist-in-Residence of Guiyang Symphony Orchestra.

Yuanming Song has sung Beethoven’s 9th Symphony as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the live recording was published and distributed by DG. In 2021 Song Yuanming’s album, Favourite Lieder of Richard Strauss, was released by NAXOS. In June 2024 NAXOS has released a second album The Magic Wonderland Opens Before Our Gaze for Yuanming Song, which she recorded with the leading vocal coach and pianist Charles Spencer, on lieder by Austrian composers from 19th and 20th centuries.
